The Church Without Walls

Ephesians 4:1-6 - The Church Without Walls

1 As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. 2 Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. 3 Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. 4 There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called; 5one Lord, one faith, one baptism; 6 one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.

Tonight as I was driving home from a wonderful night of unity between brothers and sisters that were mostly all single.  I realized how different the church looked from what it looked liked four years ago.  One of the visions I had for church after a month of being saved was that I wished the church, the people of God, would be a people without walls.  A church without walls in other words.  I now know a little more of why the Lord kept putting this passage on my heart and the idea of unity.  It was only tonight that the phrase to describe it came to my mind, it can be expressed so simply and taught so easily to people anywhere in the world because it is so easy to convey and to be shown.  I honestly could even see how this could be a skit presented in a different country where they can’t even understand the words that come out of your mouth, but if Love is a universal language that anyone could understand, then I believe unity which is the result of love as is seen in this passage, “Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.”  And then is followed by “Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.”  I see that the Spirit of God is moving in great ways at A-Life, he is using some new people like Deborah and Kathy, my two homies that I wrote about yesterday when I said, “Friends that you have only known for a year but feel like you’ve known for a lifetime are awesome,” to tear down walls in the church through friendships based on the Gospel.

I can’t tell even express how excited I am to see this happen in the church because this is one of those things that makes me so joyful and happy.  Today was a SAD day if you know what I mean, but today was probably the most content I have ever been in my life to be in the SAD crowd on Valentine’s Day :)
